piranha
Recently I jumped on the bandwagon of trilobite acquisitions and purchased this beautiful Bolivian bug. This trilobite genus is fairly unusual to find complete and well articulated. Measuring a plump 4" plus, I could not resist the temptation to get it and remove the matrix that was covering a significant amount of the specimen. After a couple of hours of prep with a pneumatic air-chisel the finished result is very satisfying. Not too shabby for a rookie preparator! nearpass
What type of air chisel did you use? I may be attempting a similar project soon.
Ammojoe
Lovely, the trilo sits sweetly on the matrix. I'm most impressed with your excellent preparation, Scott! Joe Kind regards, Joe

fengw03
Hi Scott, great job! Actually I saw that trilobite for sale too. I hesitated for a minute (as a poor student), and then it was gone. Now that I know it's in a good hand, I am more than happy. Wei

Malcolmt
Excellent work.....Not sure ahow a novice preparator ends up with a micro jack , they certainly arnt cheap and they are not available on ebay.........but what the heck....... I bought a wholesale lot of these nodules (20 of them) a while back ranging from about 1 inch to about 3 inches , the material is super hard and the actual bug is crumbly , I started to prep one with my ARO and go frustrated with it and put it to the side, perhaps its time to take it back out and finish it. I think part of what I did not like was the fact that these are concretion nodules and not the more normal type of matrix that I usually prep.... Wrangellian
What, you just started collecting the common ones, Scott?? Is that your secret - rare ones first? And just started prepping too! Well you're off to a good start. I had a hard enough time acquiring my conulariid from Bolivia, guess I should get a trilo from there to complement it.. Anyway, nice job!
