PrehistoricFlorida
This is a very rare Arctodus simus canine. There have only been a handful of A. simus fossils ever found in Florida, and most of them are in the Florida Museum. This specimen may be the only instance of A. simus ever found in South Carolina. This is a massive tooth from a massive animal. A. simus was 6 feet tall at the shoulders when on all fours, and stood 11 feet tall when upright. They weighed as much as 2,200 lbs. Not only was this the largest bear, but it is also believed to have been the largest mammalian carnivore. www.PrehistoricFlorida.com

PrehistoricFlorida
Holy cow! That's an amazing tooth. Could you divulge the type of deposit where it was found in SC (quarry, river, offshore)? It was found in a river while diving for megalodon teeth. www.PrehistoricFlorida.com
