paleoflor
Dear Forum, All six of the following photographs show Sigillaria fossils. But what species? I know there are a couple of lycophyte specialists here on the forum, and any help with identification is much appreciated. All specimens were found in the Westphalian (Upper Carboniferous) of Belgium or the Netherlands. Scale bar = 1 cm (all images). So far we have: 1 S. mamillaris 2 S. 3 S. 4 S. 5 S. boblayi 6 S. tesselata Kind regards, Tim 1 2 3 4 5 6 Edited January 6, 2014 by paleoflor Searching for green in the dark grey. Thank you for your thoughts and also for the link to Hans' website. His is a very useful and nice online resource (plus made by a fellow Dutchman, he-he). I forgot to check it, so your link provides confidence regarding the ID of specimen 1. Meanwhile, on the Fossiel.net forum, I got some more answers thanks to Ziepe. The list now reads. 1: Sigillaria mamillaris Brongniart 1824 2: Sigillaria davreuxii Brongniart 1836 3: 4: Sigillaria scutellata Brongniart 1822 5: Sigillaria boblayi Brongniart 1836 6: Sigillaria tesselata Brongniart 1828 Only specimen 3 remains "species-less", any ideas? Cheers, Tim Searching for green in the dark grey.

paleoflor
In an attempt to ID specimen 3, I came across an online version of Weiss (1887): Die Sigillarien der preussischen Steinkohlengebiete. I. Die Gruppe der Favularien. Perhaps interesting literature for some of you. Searching for green in the dark grey.
