Jacob Harrison
I have found tons of petrified wood but this one is very unique around here. My son picked it up and you could tell by the sound of his voice he had something good. Has anyone seen quartz inside of petrified wood before? ynot
Quartz is a common replacement agent of petrified wood. Nice piece. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." ynot
At the petrified forest in Arizona they were destroying the logs to "mine" for amethyst crystals (that is one reason the park was established, to protect the logs from being crushed into gravel.). Jacob Harrison
It is also very delicate to the touch. Pieces crumble off every time you pick it up so it's going in the shadow box

caldigger
Beautiful shape to it, looks like a piece of driftwood. Your son must be one happy hunter.
