Peat Burns
@Fossildude19 Someone brought this fish to me today wanting to know what it was. It was purchased at a thrift store or antique shop or some such place. I think It looks like Santana Formation, Brazil. I was thinking perhaps Vinctifer sp.? Can anyone confirm or correct any of this? It's about ~30 cm long Thank you!
oilshale
Correct - it's a Vinctifer comptoni. 5 Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes (Confucius, 551 BC - 479 BC).

-Andy-
Agree with Oilshale. It's a Vinctifer. Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

Nimravis
Nice thrift shop find. I am always hoping to find a nice Saber-Tooth Tiger skull, but the closest I have come to that was this (recent) Jackal skull mounted on a piece of wood for $4.99.
caldigger
Our thrift stores are definitely lacking! Never find anything interesting unless you're after something plastic or broken ceramic. I'm pretty sure everything gets "cherry picked" by employees long before it reaches the store shelves.
Tidgy's Dad
Thrift stores here sell only old clothes and odd shoes. Seriously. It's usually the left shoe for some reason. Nice find @Peat Burns Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

caldigger
Can you just imagine the puzzled looks the customs agent has when he opens a box containing just one left shoe.

I am going to try it. Really. Customs check contents at this end before posting so I will be able to report on the facial expression. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. Seems legit....” 1 Happy hunting, Mason
