gigantoraptor
Hello all I'm currently on a trip in France, near Chaumont. The geological maps say this area is middle to upper Jurassic, but other sources say it's Rhaetian (Upper Triassic). I found this tooth in marine desposits, clearly because 99% of all finds I do here are molusks, bivalves etc. They range from less than one cm to over 15 cm. The tooth is about 2 cm. What do you all think? As far as I know no Ichthyosaurus fossils have been found here. Thanks
Bobby Rico
I would say yes to Ichthyosaurus tooth but I don’t know about the area, you found it . Nice find congratulations.
Ludwigia
More than likely Ichthyosaurus, although Plesiosaurus is another possibility. The photos aren't sharp enough to make out the fine details. 2 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

D.N.FossilmanLithuania
It is ichtyosaur or croc, you should to prep out it with acid and then we will say for sure.

Troodon
Very nice, if its an ichtyosaur that would be super fot that locality. Congratulations
DE&i
That's a tricky one, the faint striations I can see give it the appearence of marine crocodile. As I'm sure you will see a similar likeness. Aurelius
How about Severnichthys as a possibility? You find those teeth in the Rhaetian.

I think Severnichthys have to come from or near the River Severn tho. John Map of UK fossil sites
Welsh Wizard
Hi I agree with John, it's not an ichthyosaur tooth. It could be a fish tooth as it looks similar to the severnichthys teeth and they also have that concave end. Nick
