Does not look like a biologic formation (not a fossil). Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." FranzBernhard
Welcome to TFF from Austria! Yes, this is most probably not a fossil in itself (the whole thing). But this is a somewhat strange object and I would like to dig deeper. Would you like to give us some extra infos? - How large is it? - Does it fizz with vinegar or hydrochloric/muriatic acid? - Can you easily scratch it with a knife? - Would you also like to provide us with some detailed pics of this item? I have the gut feeling, that the material is somewhat structured. This is especially visible in the second pic, but I can not discern, what these structures could be. Many thanks! Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. Despite the fact that it is not a fossil, it is an interesting and visually pleasing shaped rock that I would have picked up to put in my garden. Franz Bernhard It is approx 6 inches long and 4 inches across at the widest point. It does not scratch easily. I did not have any muratic acid to test with vinegar. Thanks!! Mark Kmiecik
I wonder what all those arcs are. Does it show more detail of those features when wet? Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
MWL Ester
Here is a photo when wet . I am not sure if it significantly enhances the features though. Thanks !!
