What it might have looked like without the preservational destortion.

That's interesting, im so used to distortion it doenst come to my mind to try that kind of trick  but it looks really great actually!

As for the specie, i had 2 different knowledgeable people opinion ant it was the same : selenopeltis macrophtalma.
