Given the area you've collected it from, it is likely from the Dundee Formation (Mid-Devonian). Those layers are very much dominated by corals and brachiopods. This is to say nothing about all the folks on the forum who have no idea how big a softball is. Softball really does not exist outside of North America. Anyway, nice find.
