gigantoraptor
Hello all I've had this vertebra for about a year now and I always thought it was from a crocodile. What do you guys think? It's about 22 cm wide, but would be bigger if the left was complete. It's from the Kem Kem beds, Morocco. Early late Cretaceous. LordTrilobite
For some reason I can't see the photo. But there's an old thread with a lot of reference you might find useful. 1 Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite

LordTrilobite
I don't immediately recognise it. But it looks like an anterior caudal vertebra. 1 Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite

Anterior caudal was my initial thought too. Am I right this does not look dinosaurian, but due to size it would be a pretty big animal? Maybe Elosuchus? LordTrilobite
For the most part, yes, it kinda does give me a croc vibe. But I think the postzygapophyses are kinda slender instead of wide. Most croc verts I've seen have them very wide. 1 Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite

gigantoraptor
Sorry for reviving an old topic, but with the new paper on the Spinosaurus tail I got some new questions around this vertebra. Does anyone have more pictures of this vertebra? Mine should just be over half the size of this one and is missing spinous process (correct term?) , but looks kinda similar. The vertebra in the picture is a proximal caudal vertebra of Spinosaurus. Has anyone a picture of a proximal caudal vertebra of a huge crocodile like Sarcosuchus? I have trouble finding anything.
