Kato
Wow! Makes the USA variety seem quite tiny.
Tidgy's Dad
Very cool. It seems like a family group and would be fascinating to find out the cause of death. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

(When compared to our modern Nine-banded Armadillo, Dasypus novemcinctus.) But remember we also had glyptodonts in North America back in the day when this family of 4 was fossilized in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Here's a (not great) photo of Glyptotherium floridanum in the Florida Museum of Natural History. We often find isolated osteoderms from this species in our sifting screens and on rare occasions I've heard of someone finding dozens of individual but associated "rosettes" but the articulated family of 4 in Argentina is a wonderful find. Looks like some of the preserved specimens have had their tops shaved off due to erosion but they will make spectacular specimens in the local museum. Cheers. -Ken
