Fossilized jaw, no teeth.

A little fossilized jaw section I found on Kansas River sandbar. Has tiny stones stuck in it that I don’t want to remove.

Very delicate and light, but completely vitreous.

Perhaps a fish fossil?

To Carl- sorry, I’m a ceramist. … we use the term vitreous ( glass-like) to refer to material that is non porous.

In the geosciences, you'd call that (heavily) mineralised ;)

Definitely not fish, It looks like rodent to me. Nice find.

Notice the ridge inside each alveolus, see n in the first photo just above that sand grain stuck in there.  That is what tells me this is rabbit, not rodent.  That is typical shape of rabbit  lower molars.
