TonyC
Did a little hunting today at Big Brook in NJ. Not a lot but what we did find was nice. One is this item. At firstI thought it was from a Saw Fish Rostrum but the bend in it is making me think left jaw of a bony fish. Any help would be appreciated. TonyC
I think it may be from Enchodus petrosus.
Trevor
This jaw is very unlikely to have come from a Sawfish (Ischyrhiza mira see https://njfossils.com/ischyrhiza-mira/) but did come from another fish, perhaps Enchodus (Enchodus petrosus see http://www.fossilsofnj.com/skates_rays/enchodus_combined.htm). Usually these types of finds are un-ID-able, but it does belong to some type of boney fish. 4 : )
The Jersey Devil
It is a lateral Enchodus jaw section.
