new and not sure

this piece was found on the chipola river in Jackson county florida. im not sure if its a fossil or not. any ideas will help me research further. thanks

Sorry for the delay, Jen...

I was out hunting and also trying to participate in Father's day activities.  Welcome to the forum. I agree with @Grimlock  You have a part of a Tapir tooth... it is small relative to tapir teeth,  likely a lower or a smaller animal. There are 2 teeth in this jaw section, also found in Florida.

These animal were numerous in the Pleistocene,  approximately the last 1.8 million years, going extinct about 20000 years ago in Florida. Please post other finds.  I am always curious.  Jack

The tapir tooth lower cusp does seem small, doesn't it.  Even so, I don't know if it's a dwarf species, or a deciduous tooth from Tapirus veroensis.  Here are some small examples for comparison:
