Jurassicz1
So i put some cyanoacrylate on a trilobite and somehow water got on it. No idea how but it turned white. How do i fix this? Should i remove all the glue or just the White parts. Should i use acetone or a pin vise? If i use a pinvise how do i not damage the fossil? Bobby Rico
I would just remove the visible glue with acetone and see how that has turn out,
Ptychodus04
+1 for what Bobby said. A bit of acetone will take it off. 1 Regards, Kris Global Paleo Services, LLC https://globalpaleoservices.com http://instagram.com/globalpaleoservices http://instagram.com/kris.howe
Crusty_Crab
Cyanolacrylate hardens in the presence of water, whether in liquid form or in the air. This is why superglue normally dries, by reacting with the water in the air. Its possible it turned white because there's high humidity in the air or you breathed on it. I would recommend using a paraloid/acryloid B72 solution as a stabilant and adhesive. It is easy to dilute and use using a acetone or acetone/ethanol solution and easily removed with acetone. Oh, and it also does not yellow with age.
