Becky Benfer Posted November 12, 2020 Share Posted November 12, 2020 Is this possibly a plant fossil or something else? Found in Ohio river, north central area. The small dot like marks on this rock are similar to other marks I’ve found on other rocks in the same area. Just wondering what it could be or how it was formed? Thanks for your help. I’m finding several pieces with this same pattern on it (dots) so the iron compound must had been plentiful. Any idea what it might had been? I found another rock with the same type of dots on it but the rock seems to be made of sandstone - ish material (very unlike the one above).
