Tonya Ross
I found this while walking on the lake the other day and I was wondering if it was possibly petrified wood? I know this area is known for the Fort Loudon troops and the Cherokee Indians but I'm not sure of the history prior to that. Can someone please help me figure this out??? Earendil
Better pics of all sides would help. Can't really make out the structure with this pic. FranzBernhard
Welcome to TFF from Austria! Exactly what @yardrockpaleo said: - Please make pics of all sides of the specimen. - Please use enough light from the front or upper front of the specimen, not from the back. - Please insert a ruler for scale. - Please use a high enough resolution, so that some detail can be seen. Many thanks! Franz Bernhard
daves64
Also, don't use back lighting. You'll need to use lighting from the front & sides. From the back put's the forward surface in shadow making it very difficult to make out any features. 1 Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties. Top Trilo
It doesn't look like pet wood to me, keep looking though you may find some “If fossils are not "boggling" your mind then you are simply not doing it right” -Ken (digit) "No fossil is garbage, it´s just not completely preserved” -Franz (FranzBernhard) "With hammer in hand, the open horizon of time, and dear friends by my side, what can we not accomplish together?" -Kane (Kane) "We are in a way conquering time, reuniting members of a long lost family" -Quincy (Opabinia Blues) "I loved reading the trip reports, I loved the sharing, I loved the educational aspect, I loved the humor.
