This rock is full of surprises for me.  It was found near Seneca Lake in NYS, Middle Devonian.  I don't know at all what I'm looking at...the only thing I recognize are the ends of Crinoid Stems.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Greg

Bryozoan covering most of the matrix.

The buried, dark item may be a cephalopod.

Is this the "Encrusting Bryozoan"?  Would it have been similar a "animal Lichen" type covering?  Is this what they mean by a "moss like animal".  Never understood what that meant.  Now perhaps I do.
