I was packing up to call it a day searching crushed rock out by the old rail siding when I noticed this. 

:raindance:Could it be ?

The finds there are Ordovician I think.

Looks a bit like a hypostome.

It it a depression in the rock? The first photo looks like conchoidal fractures in the rock.

Concave correct On a convex surface.

In person it appears striking like the eurypterid fragments from Ridgemont.

Why did you only bring that small piece and not the rest of it? :heartylaugh:

My first impression was same as @Al Dente; one of those frustrating fracture patterns that almost look like something..but that one is more convincing than most...

Anything I can do, short of finding the rest ? To be honest it was positioned where the spreader would have hit it, but, the symmetry ? and doesn't it look like a hypostome ?
