Tyrannosaurus Rex Tooth

Recommended Posts

This should be a Tyrranosaurus Rex Tooth. Correct?

Info regarding the Tooth:

Fossil information : Hell Creek Formation, Jordan, Montana, VS.
Size: 58mm, Cretaceous (66 - 70 mil y)

The tooth been left as found. Just some cleaning. Has a very nice natural wear on the tip.

I have seen some other Tyrranosaur Rex tooth trough searching, they were much rounder and thicker towards the lower end. Perhaps those are located differently in the jaw more to the back to crush meat.

Looking forward to your thoughts

What size is the tooth and do you have a photo of the base?

Hi Frank,

The Tooth is 58mm , just over 2inch.
By base you mean photo from underside of the tooth ?

Sadly don't have it, and cannot get it unfortunately

Do you have a photo of the mesial carina.  Just trying to see the width of the tooth looks wide.   If you are comfortable that the provenance is from a reliable source its most likely a Trex.    I say that because the serrations dont scream Trex but they can have fine serrations
