Teeth from a theropod, hell creek

Recommended Posts

Hello, I saw these teeth for online today and they were listed as "T-Rex". And because they're so cheap compared to T-Rex teeth, I wondered if they really are, and if they turn out as Rex, I think on buying one.

The teeth are just about 1 cm in length, so quite small for a Rex. Must have been a very young individual, or a Nanotyrannus instead.

Sadly there were no centered pictures from the bottom cross section that could help identifying them.

And sadly, the exact finding location and county wasn't named, location was just  listed as "Hell Creek".

But there were plenty of Tyrannosaurs found in this formation.

So I doubt its still identifiable.

But any help and ideas are appreciated !

Are good signatures really that important ?

I would be more inclined to call these nano teeth. They have a nano look to me at the base. More likely tyrannosaurid is appropriate though especially without having a county associated with it unless someone can confirm nano.

Indet since county is not certain.

Bottom and front/back view are helpfull with id, but looking at this tooth it looks more like nano than rex.

It seems to have thight curvature that nano teeth would have.

There's no such thing as too many teeth.
