Looks sort of like a very weathered coral.

Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.

 You're kidding. Three flights two rental cars, and a used pickup later.

There are dozens of them not 5 miles north of Rockwood.

That's okay, bagged a couple ammonites already at least. :)

What formation and age is this fossil from? Did you find it north of Rockwood, Texas? Any connection with your screen name and the town?

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.

The pile of gravel just the other side of the huge ball catching net on the east side of TX 360 near Ave. K. is the best I can do.

It looks like a Paleozoic coral colony that made it to a Cretaceous area. Man has brought in some of the hard Paleozoic rocks to the area because they are much harder the the local Cretaceous rocks. A river could also have brought it in too.

Ok the exact location was pretty much at the Woodbine / QT boundary,  and yes good chance it was imported gravels like the ones in creek we were hunting.
