Star shaped fossil?

Hi,

Fossil hunting for a while and I found this star shaped fossil. Would appreciate it if you have an idea what that is. (Jurrasic period, Saudi Arabia)

I am attaching a pic of my other finds but I was able to identify them lurking on the forum browsing old posts but the star shaped fossil is very strange, and dare i say, beautiful

Many thanks,

Hind, the fossil collector

You have a lot of crinoid stems there and your mystery fossil is, I believe, the base of a crinoid calyx.

Very nice. :)

Adam is right, of course. :)

@HindAlessa

Here is an identification chart that a member made for some of the crinoid cup base plates. It may not help you identify the one you have, as it is for Carboniferous (Pennsylvanian) aged fauna, but it will give you an idea of what you have and their variety.

I love these little things, and yours is a beauty! :b_love1:
