FranzBernhard
Merry Christmas! I have declared this specimen as my Christmas gift: I have already presented it in the mailbox-thread. I got it from @Wrangellian in exchange for a few Austrian fossils. Thank you! I have also the habit to make myself Christmas gifts. Here it is: It was the last specimen I have collected this year. It had a weathered fracture surface, so I treated it with an angle grinder first. Than lots and lots of hand grinding with 400 grit etc... Here is the in-situ pic (the two bottom pics), the specimen is from an outcrop in the "Mixed Zone" with rudists and Trochactaeon occurring together in a conglomerate bed: However, I made myself another Christmas gift on Christmas Eve itself, updating the summary of 2 years of field work in the northern Kainach Gosau-Group: Summary - Fossils of the northern Gosau-Group of Kainach - 2020 & 2021 (pdf, ca. 6 MB, external site, in German). Here is the map. All the fossils zones to the west of the central valley (Kainach valley) were discovered this year and were previously completely unknown (except the eastward extension of the long Trochactaeon Zone). 2021 was the very best fossil year of all times and it feels like birthday and Christmas together every time I take a look at this map, recognizing what I have found this year. But the best of all, this whole area of about 100 km2 will keep me busy for many years to come, exploratory prospecting, detailed prospecting and collecting . In summary, I have got 5 Christmas gifts! Have a nice day! Franz Bernhard Edited December 26, 2021 by FranzBernhard 4

Rhiguita
For Christmas this year I didn't receive any fossils, as I ordered my own that haven't shown up in time, but my family got me some really cool books that are paleontology related that will be some good reads for the new year, as well as a cool figure for my collection. I wish every one a merry Christmas and wish everyone good luck on collecting fossils in the new year. 1

thelivingdead531
I received these two items from my husband for Christmas. He knows nothing about fossils and it was his first time buying any for me, so I give him credit for trying and doing well in my opinion. First is a plesiosaur tooth, which unfortunately has no location info. The second is a bracelet with a small, polished dinosaur bone as part of it. 2

It was really the least I could do but the most that he wanted in return for what he sent me. I didn't get anything fossil-related for Crimbo, nor have I been out to find anything recently, so I have nothing to show. No worries though. I hope everyone's Christmas/holiday was merry.

Gareth_
I got this a few weeks ago, part a present to myself, part using Christmas money I knew I'd get.... It's much older than any fossil! But equally interesting, rare and unique It's a meteorite - 296 grams / 10.4 oz iron meteorite - Campo del Cielo 1

Happy New Year Bobby Hey Bobby As old as the solar system - 4.5 billion years, the asteroid it came from was made at the same time as the planets etc Some meteorites can be fairly cheap to start your collection and get a feel for what's what.... NWA (North West Africa) Stony meteorites don't come with a hefty price tag and they're usually quite small (meteorites are typically priced based on weight and type). I have a small NWA meteorite with a bit of fusion crust on it! It's an L Chondrite, with L meaning low iron content. It's still attracted to a neodymium magnet though.
Kane
A massive step up from the cheap safety vests, this was one of my favourite fossil-related gifts. Ever since borrowing one from a field comrade, I came to discover I had been missing out all along! This is a Pioneer brand surveyor's vest. This thing is rugged, and loaded with pockets and various features. For my kind of collecting, you can't have too many pockets! 2 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
