New Members purple-rose Posted May 4 New Members Share Posted May 4 hi, i got these fossils at a local auction so very limited information, sadly no loctaion. they were in a box and the description was "mixed fossils of ammonites, vertebra, fossil eye, gryphaea (devils toe nails), coral and coprolite". I've not added the ammonites or gryphaea, bivalves or mould fossil of bivalve as can ID them. its the folloiwng 8 i'm not sure on. 1. i think is either vertebrae or crinoid stem - the opening (filled soild)goes right the way through it 2. i think large is crinoid stem and the small ? vertebra 3. i'm guessing is what they thought was an eye - the dark goes right though it - i think could be a belemnite 4. i think its crinoid still in a rock 5. i think ammonite orcoral as has jagged markings 6. i think some type of coral 7. i'm guesisng what they thought was coprolite - ive added from various angles to show marks 8. no idea at all any help or thoughts appreciated. i can take more pictures from other angles if required, just give me the number. Rockwood
1 - 3 Are all crinoid columnals. 4 is indeed a crinoid stem section in matrix.
Ludwigia
5 & 8 are ammonites. Not sure about 7. Otherwise correct on all counts. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

Amy This ones reminds me to some finds I did in Great Britain at the beach of the south coast. Could you please post a pic more from the Nr. 8? I love to see it from the sides to see if the ammonit has something like spins, a rim or...? Do you have any idea about the continent they have been found? New Members purple-rose Posted May 4 Author New Members Share Posted May 4 6 more photos of number 8 as requested by @rocket. there doesnt seem to be much on the sides sadly, except a small opening which has - on the last very close up of the hole you can just make out the shapes linked to the inner part of spiral, they are much clearer without the photo but i cant get it to zoom in more (this was taken on macro). i would guess they are english as the auction was north east. but they said didnt know anything more and the contents were a guess
rocket
... Thanks My vote: North-East Great Britain, Yorkshire-Coast, Lower Jurassic, Toarc The nodule reminds me to the nodules with Dactylioceras from there. Only problem for me: the ?Calcit-druse. Never seen this from there before
