Spine like trace fossil

Collected this in Woodbine formation, I've searched through trace fossils but haven't found a match assuming that's what it is, hope it's recognizable.

Is there any stem like feature connecting these? Plants have been found in the Woodbine.

My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned.

Now, that's just weird! I have no idea. Maybe mash some modeling clay down into it and see what the negative looks like. Is that the typical sandstone you see a lot of in the Woodbine?

Don't see any connections but preservation isn't great. As far as typical,  this is a rather new spot,  that has several different colors and textures of sandstone. I've been looking for plants but so far just petrified wood.  I've included a few pics of site, every slab is solid shells of different oysters, some of the biggest I've seen along with strange things I don't recognize.. Above that is layer with concretions I found fat little ammonite in along with several other fossils and  trace fossils.

Upon closer inspection from diff angle it does appear there is some kind of connection at the 'head' of this. Including 2 pics of beginning and 2 showing end of the trail.

Dang I think you nailed it!   Even looks like some of the pollen there in last pic . How cool my first Woodbine plant fossil!  Found first Woodbine  fish tooth here also, this is most productive  site I've hunted  in this formation. :)

Some of the latter images are reminiscent of some of the preservation styles of Protovirgularia

Agreed. Protovirgularia dichotoma, in particular.
