Danewf
Newbie here. Discovered this fossil on the shoreline of Bruce Peninsula, Ontario Canada, Lake Huron side in Dolomite rock. Is it Orthocone Ammonoid or Orthocone Nautiloid or something else? I believe these are common finds in the area but this one is much bigger than others I have seen and the creatures shell appears partially fossilized rather than just an impression. Any insight appreciated including possible age. Thank you.
Kane
Orthocone nautiloid, Silurian in age (as is much of the Bruce Peninsula). ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Ludwigia
There's no such thing as an orthocone ammonoid, so I guess the choice is obvious. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
