Strange bone/coral from Costa Rica

I found this oddity while walking along Bandera Beach in Costa Rica. The beach is visited by sea turtle, crocodiles, sting rays, humpback whales and other fishes and sharks. The beach is on the Pacific Ocean relatively close to the equator. It is shaped like a shark tooth but I doubt that it is due to the porous nature and large size. The shape doesn’t remind me of coral, but it could be. It seems to me like a bone. There is a small protuberance that soft tissue could attach to. I was thinking turtle or crocodile but I reviewed images of their skeletons and didn’t see a match. Any ideas?

That looks really familiar.  I'm inclined to think modern turtle shell

The fact that it looks like a complete bone with sutured edges would fit a turtle shell ID.

The view from above makes me think of a bone part of a fish’s skull.
