twisteddendrite
I'm planning a trip to Colorado and if anyone knows of good places to look for fossils, will be in S.E. quadrant. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Xiphactinus
there's a neat pay to dig site near the Florissant Fossil Beds near Pike's Peak
Earl
Hello twisteddendrite, I asked much the same question on the forum a couple of months back. You can find that thread here. I followed the advice provided to me in that thread and visited Creede and Florissant. I spent five very enjoyable hours splitting shale at the Florissant Fossil Quarry. That is definitely a place I would like to revisit! Also, be sure to visit the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument which is just down the road from the privately-owned fossil quarry. I bought a lot of excellent reference material from their visitor center's bookstore. I also had a good time fossil-hunting at the "airport curve" (which is a roadcut) just outside of Creede. There's a lot of plant material there, occasional insects, and the rare feather! Hope you have a great vacation! Regards, Earl
