fredalexander
hello every one. i am very new here and just wjated to say that i very much enjoy reading the information provided on this forum. that being said, if anyone has read my topic in the members introduction section, i did say that i did draw quite a lot of paleofauna. i would like to introduce some of my artwork here. i would greatly appreciate any anatomical critique as i am always looking for ways to make my illustrations more like the creatures actual likeness helicoprion cretoxyrhina mantelli platyhystrix for this drawing, i also what some confirmation. i recently read something( its been a while, i cant remember it) that stated that platystrix didn't have a enlarged sail, but just the protruding vertebral structures with no expansion of skin. is this true? if it is, then i'm going to make some changes next time i decide to draw this amphibian. PFOOLEY
Wow, fred...these are very nice! Colored pencils? I can't say anything to anatomically correct, but shadows would give these pieces some depth. Ludwigia
I'm afraid I can't give you any practical tips, neither on anatomy nor on your art work, but I can say that you're doing a lot better than I ever could. Nice work! Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

Pagurus
I can't help with the anatomical correctness but I sure am impressed by your drawings, especially that wonderful platyhystrix. You may have already seen this, but this blog on Scientific American online discusses various platyhystrix interpretations and "the troubling lack of platyhystrix images online." fredalexander
wow, thanks for the comments guys. glad to know that the anatomy of my drawings thus far seem adequate . poofoly: i do use color pencils. color pencils and the occasional marker marks at certain places. i agree with you also. i might go back and provide shadows to make them pop even more. pagurus: thank you sir, that is the exact blog i was trying to think of. thanks to you, i know have it in my favorites . i find it interesting on how controversial this creatures ventrally elongated vertebral columns. i see now that i might have to start thinking out the box of certain possibilities to answer why this little creature had such a structure. triceratops: have you drawn that picture of the triceratops in your avatar? i know for fact that I've seen it up on deviant art. heres a few more art peices that i've done. gerrothorax australovenator purussaurus WIP and finally, rhamphosuchus crassidens

fossilized6s
These are wonderful! A true talent. Thanks for sharing. And I know it's more of a preference thing, but shadows are a big perspective thing too. I'm sure you know this though. And I know how tough it is to blend ground shadows without losing some forms of your creature.
