Cjj1981
Hi wonder if anyone can shed any light on what if anything these could be please? Found in September at Walton on the Naze in Essex, England. We spent the afternoon walking along the London Clay cliffs. Lots of fossilised wood and branches but we also found something that resembles a hip bone?? I've attempted some shots with the phone of our finds
tmaier
Yup, look like a femur to me. https://www.google.com/search?q=femur&btnG=Search&hl=en&gbv=1&tbm=isch There are some very good bones specialists here, so wait for them to give their opinions. Might take a whole day or more for all the discussion to come in.
Batfossil
Reminds me of a turtle proximal limb bone, but just a guess. If mammal, more likely a humerus than a femur, but doesn't really strike me as mammal.
fifbrindacier
To me it also look like a femur, but in comparison with a human femur, the space between the "head" and the long part of the bone, seems very thick. Could you, please wash it up, put off the most earth and dirties with a tooth brush water and soap and then post another photo, to see how it looks like ? Thanks.
