New Members Jlpastrone Posted January 14, 2018 New Members Share Posted January 14, 2018 Hello... I found this small tooth yesterday at Flag Pond in Calvert County MD. It is embedded in a small jaw fragment (the small tooth is circled in red). The jaw fragment is solid, not appearing hollow like a fish jaw. Any thoughts on what it could be? Thank you for your help!!

Fossildude19
This looks like one of those frustrating ironstone nodules/concretions from the creeks there. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Fossildude19
I'll have to take that back, I guess. Your last photo does look more tooth-like. I've got nothing. Maybe one of the more local folks will weigh in. Miocene_Mason
Ray dermal scute is the closest thing I could think of, although a wonder if it’s and extremely pathological angel shark tooth. That’d be one funky tooth... “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
