Elmo
Another one of my finds from Flag Ponds Nature Park. Is this a dermal denticle? This is the first time I’ve found one of these and the only thing I can find online that is close to matching is a dermal denticle. I say it’s the first one I’ve found, but I’m pretty sure if I would’ve been checking the shell beds a bit better I would’ve found more by now. If it is one, is there a way to tell what it came from? Thank you in advance.

ynot
Looks like a bone fragment too me, not a denticle. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." It is hard to tell in the pics because I lightened the pics trying to make the detail more noticeable, but the center protrusion is a different texture from the rest of it. It very strongly resembles the 2 items that I circled in this pic. 1

shark57
Definitely a large ray dermal denticle. When they are this large they are often called scutes.

I’m pretty used to not being right, so I’m actually pretty shocked when I do get one right. You knew who to link to it though and I haven’t a clue on that yet. Thank you for the help!
