@Bobby Rico and @Troodon, thought you guys would like these. Not plastic, but pretty cool. My brother bought these decanters at an antique store for $100.00. He stated that they are the complete set and that is why he bought them. He has them displayed in a glass case that holds some fossils that I gave him.

Ralph, as you've gathered by now but for the benefit of those who haven't been following the thread since its start, "plastic dinosaur" is just a handy term for any prehistoric animal memorabilia you have.

I think your brother got a great deal on those decanters.  Those might be priced at $30-40 each in some antique stores.

With the recent passing of my Father-in-Law, the daunting task of preserving decades of family photographic images has fallen to me. I am faced with multiple albums containing prints and box after box of carousels holding 35mm slides. I randomly selected a carousel of slides and started the task of digitalizing the images. My scanner, long in service, gave up the ghost and I ordered a replacement. Opting for a factory reconditioned unit, I congratulated myself on the 50% savings. Of course the unit sent was defective. After spending an unpleasant phone hour with the company's tech "expert," I chose to return the beast. He (reading from his screen, no real diagnostic thought) directed me to perform the same irrelevant step over and over. The machine never powered on without error. Purchasing the same model (at full usurious price) I dove into the slides. It has been a delight to view events of my wife's childhood unfold. In the life period currently under scan, images from a family trip to the 1964 World's Fair emerged. This image seemed apt for the Forum's view.

It's time to wake up this thread again.  Here's a coffee cup (two views) a friend picked up for me when he visited the George Page Museum (the La Brea Tar Pits).  I've been there a few times and they keep making different souvenirs for the gift shop so I try to go every couple of years but it's been a while since my last visit.  Admission was still just $7 then.

Hi all I  thought I add this art work here as it really is very nostalgic as is this thread also .

The stegosaurus fossil assemblage is a print I made to gift to a few TFF members. I think it works well and is quite quirky . I also have a print myself  in the frame makers .

Sorry about I  neglected the last few posts here but some how they slipped by me.

Cheers Bobby

MrsR and I had a day out at a antique fair. I purchased these 3 badges they are promotional material for a kids bubble bath product . I think the badges are from 1970s.  They  are pretty cool and quite vintage going by the prehistoric bath time portraited on the buttons.

This is what this thread is about in a roundabout way . I wondered how many fossil collectors stated with a plastic dinosaur as child and then moved into fossil collecting? Going by this thread a lot. Cheers Bobby

I got the Troodon stenonychosaurus (British Museum made by Invicta )back in my collection. It has taken me 3 years to buy a replacement because of the high price they command now. £45 to £100 . I got a bargain at £15 . The first Troodon modal I paid 40p from a car boot sale . I sold my modal to raise money to win a Christmas auction here on the forum. You can say I payed @Troodon with a Troodon . I probably sell it again at Christmas.

I am scared to go down the model dinosaur route…..it’s a slippery slope

There is a seller or two on flea bay with reasonably priced ones. But seems they can get quite expensive !

Vintage toys are a big collectible market. The British Museum 70s /80s models have been very popular since they was released.  If I have any descent duplicates In my collection I send them your way. It take me a couple of weeks to get round to looking in boxes for them. Cheers Bobby

Cool beasties.  I know its of the fossil path, but I really like your metalic lantern fish.  Is that purely a UK thing?

I'll have to get a picture of my sons' plastic dinosaur collection. Until then here's my oldest feeding his Brachiosaurus.
