karenilm
PART 2 - Hello! I was hoping that you could help me identify some things that I found. A couple years ago I found a Mastodon at the beach in North Carolina and it was identified by the helpful people on TFF. This tooth is in photos below and is CIRCLED red. Editing to add location: Everything was found at the beach in North Carolina -- South Eastern NC - wrightsville beach. Below are 2 sets of images. I am talking to my childs 3rd grade class next week and I am bringing in some of my finds.. I don't feel comfortable bringing anything in that I haven't had identified so any help you could provide it greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to check out my fossils. Fossil 1: . They have a mineral rather than a fossil appearance to Me. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." karenilm
My apologies ynot these were also found in North Carolina at the beach. All of the fossils (including the identified Mastodon above) were all found at the same beach in NC.

Peat Burns
Many of those fragments listed under "possibility no. 1" do indeed look like mastodon or gomphothere teeth fragments to me. Not sure about photos 1-4 under "possibility no. 2". No. 5 in that group does look like it is probiscidean.
Fruitbat
I agree with Peat Burns. Fossil one definitely looks like the cusp of a mastodon/gomphothere tooth. I'm less sure on fossil two. -Joe 1 Illigitimati non carborundum Fruitbat's PDF Library
