This sounds very newbie, but what is a productid brachiopod? I know what a brachiopod is but I am unsure what a productid one is.

That is a genus level.

That is Linoproductus.

 

Here is one (bottom) compared with Antiquatonia (Dictyoclostus):

And an example of Juresania (mentioned in a post above):

These brachiopods are often found together.

Productid is short for Productida, an order (above family level of classification) of brachiopods. :)

The genus Linoproductus is fairly distinct and usually an easy identification to make. There are a handful of species and they require a good specimen and stratigraphy to hone in on.

 

The rest of the Texas Productida make me NUTs! Too many genera and species that are only slightly different.

I agree with erose. Approach naming or classification of Productid brachiopods with caution!
