Velociraptor99
Hello TFF, I found what I am most certain is a fern in Athens, Ohio while I was doing oreintation for college last summer. The fossil is very faint and I’m not sure what formation it belongs to nor the species. I plan on giving it to my father for Father’s Day because while he doesn’t collect fossils he loves plant fossils and finds my hobby fascinating. I know he’ll love it, even if this is my only fern I’ve found to date. I did manage to get some other plant bits which I am unsure of, I’ll try and get an ID later. If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated. So I say to you, Ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and door will be opened for you. -Jesus Christ
jpc
pretty faint, but cool. Can you try to take a photo with low angle lighting? Details might be more visible that way.
fossilcrazy
It is hard for me to be sure without seeing it at hand, but it looks like a leaflet to Archaeopteris. A protogymnosperm, that is a tree that is neither a fern or seeded plant.
