JohnBrewer
Kate and I were having a bit of a day yesterday so we decided off the cuff to visit Offerton 8 miles from Home to chill out. Hit an amazing vein, I’ve never had such a variety. 3 John Map of UK fossil sites

The shale doesn’t need cracking it sorta delaminates itself. Very very fragile. These fossils generally don’t have an impression or if they do they’re incredibly faint. Only found one pos/neg. Haravex
Hmmm I found quite a few small pieces of positive and negative it always helps to split along the cracks of any loose pieces. Or better still what i have found if there is a piece that is loose take it wrap it in newspaper not paper towel or anything like this take home leave to dry out and see where the natural splits occur coat the outside with consolidation like paraloid72 and then carefully split with a knife or if it is bigger with a paint scrapper. JohnBrewer
At Offerton? The best vein is the very fragile one. I do take Paraloid and a syringe to apply. John Map of UK fossil sites
