Fossildude19
Looks like mineral staining, to me. Not seeing a fossil here. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." KimTexan
It looks geological/mineral to me rather than fossil. The mineral habit looks dendritic. Specifically the part that’s going up the side with fine little veins. Here is a link to see an example. https://ipfs.io/ipfs/QmXoypizjW3WknFiJnKLwHCnL72vedxjQkDDP1mXWo6uco/wiki/Crystal_habit.html
ynot
I agree with dendritic crystal growth on a conchoidal fracture surface. Mineral is most likely manganese. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." daves64
Same here. Looks nice, but it's only dendrites (I fell for the same thing a while back). Dendrites are a unique mineral crystallization and can have very beautiful presentation. Thay can make a plain fossil into a unique display piece. They are even found in agates which are used as gemstones. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough."
