Benjaminpb
Hello all! I found this during my last trip to the North Sulphur River. I’m thinking it’s a piece of a Cretaceous turtle shell. I’m not sure and I don’t like to assume anything. Any guesses? Also, are those marks from animals feeding on it?
ynot
Looks like a ray dentical with the spine broken off. (wrong) Edit Turtle was my second guess. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." North sulfur is mostly cretaceous fossils. Should be cretaceous turtle fossil. 4 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." jpc
With the right sources, this thing can be IDed to the genus I think, based n shape and texture. That would be a good way to know if it is Plestocene or Cretaceous. (I am not claiming to have that knowledge.)
