Cachersusie
We just started hunting for shark teeth in August and have found many, but finding the ptychodus teeth is my favorite. I just wanted to show you guys our collection of them so far. Are these all whipplei?
Darktooth
Wow, that's a great collection, considering you have only been collecting them since August! 2 I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
Fossildude19
We would need to see pictures of the chewing surfaces to determine what species of Ptychodus they are. 6 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Heteromorph
Great collection of teeth, especially in such a short amount of time! Ptychodus can sometimes be tricky to ID to species level, but almost all of them do appear to be P. wipplei. However, there are some that look to be other species. Going from top to bottom, left to right, the 2nd tooth on the 2nd row looks more like P. mammillaris/anonymus to me, as well as the last tooth on the 3rd row. As Fossildude19 said, we need more and closer pictures of the chewing surfaces of the teeth in question to make a definite determination on their species ID.

I bet that would be interesting. I bet there are folks out there with buckets full. I would post mine.
