Recommended Posts

Found the attached at Cory's Lane in Portsmouth RI.  I have guesses as to its ID.  Do you have any thoughts?

Can't help with the id, but I grew up in Cumberland. Have you hit the North Attleboro trilobite sites?

No, I've not hit the NA trilobite sites.  Where?...are you talking about the north end of Hoppin Hill reservoir?

It looks more substantial than my first thought, a cordiates leaf. Perhaps a fern seed ?

Do a google search for North Attleboro trilobites. There are numerous sites. I will try to find the info for you later.

There is a lot of material at the site that has the appearance of poorly preserved 'wood', for lack of a better term. After some consideration I'm thinking perhaps this is something like that.

Thanks for inputs.  That's three near-votes for cordiate leaf.  Size: 3" long x 0.5" wide.

How thick does it appear to be to you ? It looks more dimensional than a single leaf.

Did anyone else note or explain this observation ?

Looks like a single large (3x0,5") leaf with veins running on the long axis.  No one discussed more than a single leaf.
