this is a fossil from the Permian marl slate of North East England and I cant figure out what it is, im thinking plant but not completely ssure, if it is plant anyone have an ID on species?

This actually looks like a section of fish scales, to me. :unsure: 

Do you know what plants are found there normally?

I was wondering if it might be! The Marl Slate is famous for its fish of course but plants are common, many types but commonest is Ullmania sps. Here's a list from Middridge (an extant SSSI site), this paper:https://pygs.lyellcollection.org/content/42/3/439
