Davidjg44
I bought this from someone at a mineral show and they didn't know what it was. It’s roughly 10 by 10 inches. I honestly know nothing about where it was collected or how old it is. I hope someone might have an idea based on these pictures. Thank you. Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. Without location info, chances of identifying this are pretty low. Not sure if this is fossil related, or mineral related. Doesn't look like any fossils I've ever seen, though. Best of luck trying to figure this out. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Rockwood
It's easy to imagine an iron sulfide mineral crystallizing out this way. Sort of a pyrite sun that didn't quite make the grade.
Davidjg44
Thank you both for your responses. This definitely seems like it could be an iron mineral that I mistook for some kind of fossil.
