Hi!

I just recently found this piece for sale, with no identification. The bumpy texture made me think of Arthropleura, but could also be something like a Stigmaria root. Please let me know what you think!

This is definitely plant material.

i would agree that it is likely a chunk of stigmaria.

Agreed -- Stigmaria. Not a very good specimen. It may be from Mazon Creek, but it is not a typical MC concretion. If your intent is to collect Mazon Creek fossils I would pass on this. Stigmaria is common and a typical two-halves concretion with much better preservation can be had dirt cheap. If you can get it for less than the price of an ice cream cone go for it, otherwise . . .
