KW Martin
I found this fossil on the shore of Petoskey State Park in Petoskey, Michigan. Looks like a fish tooth, but would love your thoughts. Thanks!
Kane
My guess would be bryozoan. ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
FossilNerd
Agree with Kane. Looks bryozoan to me when I zoom in on the pic. Mark Kmiecik
A word of caution about state parks. In many it is illegal to collect fossils, or anything else for that matter. I don't know about this one, but it's always good to check. It's never good to pay a huge fine for carrying out a small rock and you don't even get to keep it. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
KW Martin
Hello. Last week, my family was at Petoskey State Park in Petoskey, MI. We were walking along the shore looking for Petoskey stones and found this. Looks like it could be a tooth but we have absolutely no idea. Any insights/ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks for your consideration. Best, Kevin
DPS Ammonite
Welcome to the Forum Kevin. It looks like a branching bryozoan colony. Each of the polygonal openings held an individual Bryozoa. My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. See my Arizona Paleontology Guide link The best single resource for Arizona paleontology anywhere.
