Another possible Cape Cod find - fossilized oyster

Here's another find I came across a while ago which looks to me like an intact oyster that has fossilized but I'm not sure on this. It almost looks like granite, but the shape is exactly the size of a small oyster - it seems to have some flakiness to it as well on the sides.  Any thoughts on this?  I tried to photograph all sides.

If this was fossilized, any idea how old this would be?

Sorry, but I think it's more granite than oyster. Granitic perhaps would be a better term but wait for others on that.

Thanks, if you look close on the second photo you can see the “hinge” at the top.

i found this on an old rock bed in Cape Cod Bay that has wild oysters and also now gets seeded. There is clay around this bed.

We more often are confronted with whether an oyster is modern or a fossil. I just can't imagine this being one.
