Adam86cucv
Stumbled arcoss what a seller is calling a careaonitas sponge from the Hopkington formation in Milwaukee county Wisconsin. I tried to Google careaonitas sponge and didn't find anything...is it possible to have a different name or is it simply a misspelling by the seller and my Google skills are weak? DPS Ammonite
It looks somewhat like Sphaerospongia from the Devonian: http://www.3d-fossils.ac.uk/fossilType.cfm?typSampleId=41067 https://www.isgs.illinois.edu/outreach/geology-resources/sponges 1 My goal is to leave no stone or fossil unturned. Adam86cucv
I can see that as a possibility.
Al Dente
It might be Cyclocrinites, a type of algae.
Adam86cucv
Cyclocrinites does also look a possibility as well.
piranha
@Al Dente has the correct ID. The spelling is 'Hopkinton' Fm and the locality is Iowa: Johnson, M.E. 1975 Recurrent community patterns in epeiric seas: The Lower Silurian of eastern Iowa.
