Calendar

As part of “European Geoparks Weeks,” a lecture will be held on June 10, 2026, on the “Bone Wars” between Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh. A fascinating chapter in the history of science that unfolded in the second half of the 19th century. It led to the discovery of over 130 dinosaur genera and species, often through adventurous means. And it was not a peaceful affair: Cope and Marsh were initially friends, then rivals, and finally enemies for several decades. The lecture recounts the story of this rivalry. Admission is free.
