Lower Carboniferous fossils of Ireland

Lower Carboniferous fossils of Ireland

All fossils have been collected and prepared by myself from the east coast of ireland. Carboniferous limestone makes up a good portion of the Malahide formation which yields good specimens of different species of Brachiopods, Bryozoans, both solitary and colonial Corals, Gastropods, Bivalves, Goniatites, both coiled and orthoconic Nautiloids, Crinoids, and if your lucky, Trilobites!

@Ludwigiafirst i start with a diamond cutting disc on a 4 inch cordless grinder to give the rough shape i want then i change to diamond polishing pads grit 50 then 100 then 240, i change to paper then on a 4 inch sander for grits 320,400,500, and finish with 800, some delicate areas i repeat that process by hand with paper, matrix removal i use a dremel 290 engraver with tungsten tips from zoic paleotech, also use dremel rotary tool with various diamond stylus and cutting discs for small work, i have a vacuum box for dust removal and most work is carried out through a 20x 6 inch magnifier, really delicate work is done with various dental tools, Thats pretty much it!

Very nice!  My favorites so far are the long Orthoconic Nautiloid, the Trilobite Pygidium, the Gastropod, and oh yeah, that brachiopod!  Hmm, that is most of them, oh well!  Well done.
